Symon Perriman currently leads
two Microsoft ISV partners,
5nine Software as their Vice
President of Business Development and Marketing, along with
ScorchCenter as their
Technical Lead and
Co-Founder. He is an internationally
recognized business leader, industry expert, author, keynote presenter and
technology personality. His technical content gets viewed by
millions of IT Professionals each year, across digital, print,
online and social media. Prior to joining the partner community he spent almost eight years at Microsoft, working with
multiple teams, including engineering, evangelism, technical
marketing, and product planning.
Symon holds numerous
patents and over two-dozen industry certifications, including
Microsoft Certified Trainer, MCSE Private Cloud, and
VMware Certified Professional. In 2013 he co-authored
"Introduction to System Center 2012 R2 for IT Professionals"
(Microsoft Press), has contributed to five other technical
books, and co-hosted the weekly 'Edge Show' for IT Professionals.
He graduated from Duke University with degrees in Computer
Science, Economics and Film & Digital Studies, and also serves
as a technical advisor for several startups.
Symon started coding in 1997, had his first job in the tech industry in 2002, and
joined Microsoft in 2006 on the File Server team. He spent 2007
through 2011 on the Windows Server High-Availability team as a Program
Manager for clustering and virtualization technologies. There he designed features, managed the product
release cycle, and led community programs contributing towards the
products' most successful releases ever.
Symon graduated from Duke University
(North Carolina) where he was an active member of the Beta
Theta Pi fraternity and the Vice President of the Duke Investment
Club. Symon graduated with a double major (B.S.) in Computer Science
and Economics, as well as receiving a Certificate in Film, Video and
Digital Studies. He also took additional classes in computer science
and business at Johns Hopkins University (Maryland) and in economics at
the London School of Economics (England).
